Great Hikes Around Oahu

Easy hikes

  • Judd trail 

  • Old Pali road

  • Likeke falls

  • Makapu’u lighthouse

  • Kamananui Valley Road- close to 4 miles round trip, completely flat path. Can see old bridge and house ruins from the Damon estate

  • Pele’s chair/Kaiwi shoreline 

  • Sunset hills- a series of mountain bike/hiking trails near Pupukea, including a pillbox and Lilikoi junction

  • Pu’u Ohia

  • Turtle Bay to the pillboxes or Kahuku point for the tide pools

Moderate hikes

  • Hau’ula loop

  • Lanikai pillbox

  • Ma’ili (pink pillbox) hike- similar to Lanikai pillbox in difficulty, can be very hot

  • Pu’u Ma’eli’eli- Kaneohe pillboxes

  • Ehukai pillbox- North shore hike near Sunset elementary

  • Aiea loop trail

  • Kaena point- flat and easy, but no shade and length (about 5 miles) make it moderate. Manana ridge to the picnic table

  • Kalawahine to Pauoa Flats

  • Manoa Falls

  • Kuaokala- need a permit but great views of the ocean and mountains

  • Waipuilani Falls- parking by Pali lookout

  • Makiki Valley waterfall

  • Lanipo (just to the bench which is about ½ mile)

Hard hikes

  • Kaipapau Makai- pillbox hike near Hau’ula, lots of uphill but great views and cool pillboxes

  • Wa’ahila ridge- around 4 miles, great views, lots of up and down
